Privacy policy
Sollux
Effective date: October 27, 2026
Introduction and scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Set In Stone (“Set In Stone”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information in connection with Sollux (the “App”). It applies to your use of the App and does not apply to any third-party website, product, or service that may be linked from the App, including Apple’s own services, which are governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.
Data controller and contact
Set In Stone is responsible for Sollux. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to [email protected].
Data we collect
Location: while Sollux is in use and you allow it, the app reads your approximate location and, when the device supports it, compass heading. This is used on your iPhone to calculate sun position, daylight, and shadow. Set In Stone does not receive a live location stream.
Saved places: names and coordinates of places you add or search for, plus which place is active, stored locally on your iPhone.
Shadow calculator inputs you enter, stored locally on your iPhone.
Place search: if you search by address, the query is sent to Apple’s geocoder so the app can show matching places. Set In Stone does not operate that search service.
Subscription data: StoreKit and RevenueCat provide the app with product, transaction, and entitlement information, such as product identifier, purchase date, and current subscription status. Set In Stone does not receive your full payment-card details.
How we use data
Location, heading, and saved places are used to show sun position, daylight, golden hour, and shadow length and direction for where you are or for a place you saved.
Address search is used only to let you pick a place to save.
Subscription data is used to sell, verify, and manage Sollux Pro and to process and restore purchases.
Legal basis for processing
Processing location and saved-place data on your device is necessary to provide the sun and shadow features you request. Sending an address query to Apple is necessary to perform the place search you start. Subscription-related processing is necessary to perform the purchase you initiate.
Third-party services and processors
Apple provides the App Store, StoreKit, Core Location, geocoding, and device services, and may process related information under Apple’s own privacy policy.
RevenueCat processes subscription entitlement data on our behalf and shares it with Apple’s StoreKit. RevenueCat’s privacy policy is available at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy-policy.
Sollux does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not sell your personal information to anyone.
Apple’s own collection and use of information through the App Store and related services is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy, not this one.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information processed in connection with the App, including relying on the security protections built into iOS, Apple’s App Sandbox, and, where applicable, encryption in transit for any network requests the App makes. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Cookies and web tracking
The App is a native iOS application and does not use browser cookies or web tracking technologies. Any analytics or crash-reporting activity disclosed above operates within the App itself, not through a web browser, and is separate from cookie-based tracking.
Data retention
Saved places, the active place, and shadow-calculator inputs remain on your iPhone until you delete them in the app or remove the app. Copies may remain in an Apple device backup according to your iPhone and iCloud backup settings.
Apple and RevenueCat retain purchase and subscription records under their own policies.
International data transfers
Set In Stone does not transfer your locally stored places or shadow inputs. Apple may process location, geocoding, and purchase information in countries where it operates. RevenueCat may process subscription data in countries other than your own, including the United States, under its own privacy policy.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information. Because saved places remain on your device, you can review and delete them in the app. You can turn off location access in iPhone Settings.
Depending on where you live, these rights may include the right to access, correct, delete, or export your information; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Where we act only as a processor of information that is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to us, you can typically exercise these rights directly within the App by editing or deleting the relevant content.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. California residents may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR). Where European or UK data protection law applies, you have the rights described above under Articles 15–22 of the GDPR, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
Data requests and deletion
Delete individual places in Sollux, or delete the app to remove its locally stored places and settings from your iPhone. You can also email [email protected] with privacy questions. Apple Account and purchase-record requests must be directed to Apple.
Children's privacy
Sollux is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
Automated decision-making
The App does not use your personal information to make any decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you through automated means alone.
Changes to this policy
Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised effective date. Where required, additional notice will be provided in the app or through the App Store listing.
