Privacy policy

Matchbook

Effective date: October 3, 2026

Introduction and scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Set In Stone (“Set In Stone”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information in connection with Matchbook (the “App”). It applies to your use of the App and does not apply to any third-party website, product, or service that may be linked from the App, including Apple’s own services, which are governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.

Data controller and contact

Set In Stone is responsible for Matchbook. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to [email protected].

Data we collect

Matchbook stores the content you create—such as matchbook photos, venue, city, country, era, category, condition, and notes—locally on your iPhone. Set In Stone does not receive this content.

Photos are added through Apple’s PhotosPicker, which only gives the app the specific photo you choose. Matchbook does not request broad photo library access and does not use your device location.

The app stores local preferences, including onboarding state, on your device.

When you use a purchase feature, StoreKit provides the app with limited product and transaction information needed to complete the purchase and verify access, such as the product identifier and current entitlement, expiration, or revocation status. Set In Stone does not receive your full payment-card details.

How we use data

Local app content is processed on your device to provide archiving, photo, search, and collection-stats features.

StoreKit transaction information is used only to offer the lifetime unlock and annual subscription, verify Matchbook Pro access, process purchases, and restore purchases.

Legal basis for processing

Where applicable, on-device processing is necessary to provide the features you request. StoreKit purchase processing is necessary to perform the transaction you initiate and provide paid access.

Third-party services and processors

Apple provides the App Store and StoreKit purchase infrastructure. Apple may process Apple Account, payment, transaction, device, tax, and fraud-prevention information under Apple’s own privacy policy.

Matchbook does not include third-party advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, authentication, or tracking SDKs in the audited version dated October 3, 2026.

Apple’s own collection and use of information through the App Store and related services is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy, not this one.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information processed in connection with the App, including relying on the security protections built into iOS, Apple’s App Sandbox, and, where applicable, encryption in transit for any network requests the App makes. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Cookies and web tracking

The App is a native iOS application and does not use browser cookies or web tracking technologies. Any analytics or crash-reporting activity disclosed above operates within the App itself, not through a web browser, and is separate from cookie-based tracking.

Data retention

Local matchbooks, photos, and settings remain on your iPhone until you delete them in the app or remove the app. Copies may remain in an Apple device backup according to your iPhone and iCloud backup settings.

Apple retains purchase and subscription records under its own policies. Matchbook reads current StoreKit entitlement information but does not operate a separate purchase database.

International data transfers

Set In Stone does not transfer your locally stored matchbook content. Apple may process purchase information in countries where it or its service providers operate, subject to Apple’s privacy terms.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information. Because your collection remains on your device, you can access and manage that content directly in the app.

Depending on where you live, these rights may include the right to access, correct, delete, or export your information; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Where we act only as a processor of information that is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to us, you can typically exercise these rights directly within the App by editing or deleting the relevant content.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. California residents may have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR). Where European or UK data protection law applies, you have the rights described above under Articles 15–22 of the GDPR, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

Data requests and deletion

Delete individual matchbooks and photos within Matchbook, or delete the app to remove its local app container from the iPhone. For privacy questions, email [email protected]. Apple Account and purchase-record requests must be directed to Apple.

Children's privacy

Matchbook is a general-audience collecting tool and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect children’s content on Set In Stone servers because it does not operate an account or content-storage service.

Automated decision-making

The App does not use your personal information to make any decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you through automated means alone.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised effective date. Where required, additional notice will be provided in the app or through the App Store listing.
